Luncheon meetings take place at a local restaurant in a private dining room and include a presentation and speaker discussing a variety of topics relevant to our industry. Ethics in Claim Handling:  1st Party and 3rd Party Claim Handling Do's and Don'ts

This presentation will review both 1st party and 3rd party claim handling issues and potential pit-falls treating such topics as:

-Recognizing the varying exposures - "bad faith" vs. "vexatious refusal";

-Following regulatory requirements with the claim - time sensitve requirements and their triggers; and

-Being cognizant of when you are creating a paper trail - discovery of the claim file in litigation.


This will cover the nuances both in KS and MO.


Taylor Connolly is a senior associate with Brown & James, P.C. praticing in the firm's Kansas City office.  Taylor practices in the areas of business and commercial litigation, construction law, employment law, insurance law, premises and retail liability, and product liability.  Additionaly, Taylor has successfully prosecuted mechanics' lien claims in connection with construction improvement projects in the greater Kansas City area.  He has a J.D from William & Mary Law School graduating cum laude and a Bachelors Degree from Kansas State University graduating summa cum laude.


Allison Greenfield is a senior associate with Brown & James, P.C. practicing in the firm's Kansas City office.  Allison pratices in the areas of business and commercial litigation, product liability, insurance law, premises liability, and arson-fraud litigation.  She has a J.D from the University of Tulsa College of Law and a Bachelors Degree from Baker University.
